Baby it’s cold outside!
This recent drop in temperature, combined with rain and snow, means many of you will be changing your horses routines!
A recent change in management is one of the biggest risk factors for a horse developing colic. Here are some tips to help keep your horses happy and healthy this winter
❄️ Try to change your horses routine gradually over the space of 10-14 days if possible - suddenly being stabled for longer than usual can increase the risk of colic such as impactions. Please plan ahead!
❄️ Make sure your horse has constant access to water - if temperatures drop below freezing make sure you’re breaking the ice on buckets multiple times a day. Consider feeding soaked mashes to increase their water intake
❄️ Think carefully when it comes to rugging your horse. A horses digestive tract provides a great source of warmth for them. We tend to over rug our horses when we feel cold, please check them regularly to make sure they aren’t too warm. It is much easier for horses to warm themselves up than to cool themselves down
❄️ Remove rugs regularly and check your horses skin for any rug rubs, or signs of mud fever or rain scald developing
❄️ Keep stables as dust free as possible. With horses spending more time indoors and eating more forage we see lots of them developing coughs over the winter months. Ensuring good stable hygiene can help keep this to a minimum.

Relieved and when these guys saw I was in a state and they unpacked there equipment told me to go In leave gate open put a scented garment out so I hung it on my open car boot and stay in the warm they said reluctant to stop as I was just worried we will find him they said !! We've got this did make me feel Iess alone and reassured me yet still sick feeling came over me today As buddy has literally been there as I lost my husband not long ago he was by my side through my down days , they did what they said 🙂👍 within the hour carried him down the drive I looked out cried some more and ran out how that feeling of shear relief felt so nice 😌 I couldn't of done this on my own So thank you ! I can't advocate first hand this team is amazing and so needed ! I'll always be grateful to your assistance My boy home He was so relieved to be in my arms 😌

I've been out walking in that area and did not see this dog. Hope it's found soon and safely. It's Denton Lane not Benton too
